Diving accident leaves woman dead and husband in decompression chamber | UK | News | Daily Express
A WOMAN has died and her husband is being treated in a decompression chamber after an accident at Britain's deepest diving lake. The woman, who was in her fifties and from Tavistock in Devon, died at the scene after the incident at the National Diving and Activity Centre near Chepstow, Gloucestershire. She had suffered cardiac arrest while in the water.
She was diving with her husband and a female friend when accident happened on Saturday.
Her husband was flown by air ambulance for treatment at a specialist decompression unit at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth after suffering breathing difficulties.
He is now in critical but stable condition.
The other female, who is a qualified diving instructor but was not acting in this capacity, was not affected.

A statement from Gloucestershire Police today said: "Officers are working with the Health and Safety Executive to investigate this unexplained death but it's believed not to be suspicious.
"An inquest is likely to open later today.
"We are not investigating the dive centre."
The 260ft-deep lake is situated in the former Dayhouse limestone quarry.
The quarry was closed in 1996 and flooded to provide what is considered by many to be the best inland diving facilities in the UK.

Any news on the condition of the husband?

Any news on the condition of the husband?

still in the chamber. or daily chamber visits rather

Some reports say he is in critical but stable condition. Some say she had a cardiac event. He might have been injured by ascending rapidly in an effort to get her to the surface quickly, but that's just a guess. An instructor was diving with them in an unofficial capacity, but no details have been seen that I know of.

sad news...keep us informed..

Thank you for the updates!!!!!!!!!! Very sad!!

I am sure the mods here will enforce the rules and keep things respectful, but I just wanted to point out that whilst the husband remains in hospital, he does have access to the internet so may read what is written here: I am sure he has enough to deal with, having blown off 45 minutes of deco in his effort to save his wife.

...., having blown off 45 minutes of deco in his effort to save his wife.

That helps the readers understand more of what happened.
