We are organising our honeymoon for next July, August time. We have a shortlist of destinations and one of them is Mauritius. In particular we really wanted to visit Rodrigues. However we have researched the area and it says the winds are high during this period. Some of the dive centres also seem to be closed in July and August on Rodrigues.
Should we give Mauritius a miss this time of year and choose another destination? Or are some other parts of Mauritius less affected by the wind?
Any help people can provide us would be appreciated!

Hi, We went to Mauritius in July 2005. Wind on the east side is problem but much calmer on the west side (facing Africa) Light rain in the early morning and night. Temp around 20 - 27C. Went snorkeling with dolphines, water was 22c and vis good.
Days partly cloudy but warm.
i think that mauritius is too commercial. its a long way to go from the UK. I would rather go to the maldives or islands in the gulf of thailand koh toa or koh phangan
