Hi,
Has anybody been to the maldives since last years tsunami ?
Are the dive sites recovering/ok ?
Also has any one any recomendations for resorts or dive operators in the Maldives ?

thanks
Doug

I haven't been since the Tsunami but from what I've heard most of the Maldives wasn't impacted much (at least from a dive site point of view) so they diving should be as good as ever.

I went to Elaidhoo in September 2004 and it was excellent. Dive boat went out in the morning for 2 dives and in the afternoon for 1 (plus scheduled night dives). There was also an excellent house reef if you wanted to shore dive (30 m to the bottom, turtles, sting rays and even sharks).

September was a bit wet (i.e. it rained a lot) but that didn't bother us a lot.

Going to Vilamendhu in January

dougaldiver, ringo thanks for your help.

I have another question, what thickness of suit do you reckon I need for November/December in the maldives 3 mm or 5 mm ?

thanks again

Just come back from Vakarufalhi - 3 mm should be fine, but not a shorty. Some people were using 5 mm.

pelan-pelan,
Thanks for the wet suit info.

cheers
Doug
