I might be off to work in Zanzibar, and was just wondering what cool creatures/stuff peeps had seen over there. Please let me know what to expect - mainly underwater, but also what's to do top-side !!
Cheers !
Would you be working in diving? Which shop?
I know Zanzibar quite well, having worked and dived there for more than a year, so feel free to ask me any questions you have about life there and / or about the various dive shops.
Regarding what there is to see under water - depends on how lucky you are... Some people have seen whalesharks, most people (including me= haven't seen anything bigger than a turtle or a giant grouper. Lots of small stuff, nudibranchs of all shapes and sizes and colours. All in all the diving is o.k. in Zanzbar, but not spectacular. Neighbouring Pemba is a bit more varied and has better chances of seeing big stuff.
Top-side Zanzibar will keep you busy enough for a while with an interesting town, great beaches and plenty of bars and restaurants for socialising. Friendly people as well.
