Heya,
we're a young university couple considering doing the Sardine Run this year. However, we've heard quite mixed responses:
On one hand it is the most spectacular underwater event, as seen in the various youtube videos. On the other hand it is
bullsh!t, paying extremely high prices, frantically trying to keep up with the balls of sardines which only last 10-20 sec.

What do you guys think? Obviously there is no guarantee to see any action, but you still pay full price. Even if you do not get to go diving... Is the money better invested somewhere else - and yes, we are on a tight budget.

Another problem is that we will only be there until the 26th of June... And most OPs start their trips on the 28th? So I'm thinking that chances are quite low, since we're not even there during the right time.

Cheers.

It's a bit late now , but i've only just seen this. Trips start mid-June. YOu spend about 7 to 8 hours at sea each day looking for bait balls. Some last a few minutes some can last 20. In a fiv-day trip if you see one good bait ball action for 20 mins then you are doing OK. 2, you've done well, 3, very well. 4 - you should have bought lottery tickets that week. And it's not just about the underwater action, there is plenty to see on the surface with whales breaching and sea birds diving in.
