Can the O2EII take a reading from the 2nd stage regulator?

Can the O2EII take a reading from the 2nd stage regulator?
I was told by a DM that doing so would ruin the O2 sensor due to the moisture. I am talking about holding the analyzer to the mouthpiece and lightly pressing the purge button.
