I have tried a number of fins for both recreation and working dives and up until last year I found the old Jet fins to be the best all around fin. Industructable, plenty of thrust, good for sculling or back kicks. Downside was they are heavy and large.
I got a pair of Mantarays and I am probably going to retire my two sets of Jets. The Mantas fit both my wet suit booties and my dry suit boots. It is probably due to the nice comfotably soft foot pockets. Not so with the rock solid Jets. I have to have two sizes, which means more junk to store and carry.
I used both types of fins this last July during the Scientific Diver class that I assist with and I think the Mantas are the ticket.
The only downside to the Manatarays is that they are hard to mark. I have not figured out yet how to identify them as "Mine".
