What changed between the two?

I purchased two (2) Pro QD i3 last year for my two girls going through their OW cert at a closeout sale, but now it seems they will never fit into the mediums I purchased. There they sit new and i've already sent them in for an annual inspection.

So looking at my options, I can either swap with someone with smalls needing medium or I can sell them and get new Axioms. What is the difference?
