The weather was great today - no rain! Gulf-Gulper, his two sons, and I headed out to get tanks at Vortex. We got there about 8:30. It looked very quiet compaired to the weekends lately. We got to Morrison to find the water level still high (about half way up the beach). The water looked tan but not the ugly brown of strange dives gone by. The boys went canoeing while GG and I went for a swim. Viz was about 20' and you could not see the log from the platform. The water was more blue than I expected and not too bad as far as particles go. We got into the cavern and GG tried out his new light and I became a Borg - see picture below. The flow out of the hole to the left of the entrance was stong as usual. Iheld on to a rock and one-handed a shot down the crack and then was blown away from the opening. There were lots of eels and catfish in the cavern today. I was surprised there were not many fish up in the basin with the tannic water still hanging around. By the time we started our second dive there were many local ladies that brought their children to play in the shallows. There were two other groups of divers there today and we took turns in the water so it was never silted up too bad. As we entered the water for our second dive, the area around the boil was beginning to get blue. When we got to the basin we found a cone of clear water that was 25' - 50' around. This was surrounded by different strengths of the weak tannic water mixing with the clear stuff. It looks like the clear water is making a come-back, slowly. Here are some pictures from the dive:

"Oh, dude!" So said daughter Liz after seeing the pics of the eels. She is practicing with her dad's underwater camera and starting to get the hang of it. Crossed fingers for the next two weeks....
