We ended up wreck diving in Coron, with a few wall and reef dives. I am going thru the photos (taken by Thom Jenkins) while carefully trying to color correct what can be saved, trying to color match from memory or visual references for accuracy.

Take a look at the first 2 photos, the 2nd is an unknown starfish I've been trying to get an ID on, I think it might be an Icon Star. Would anyone know what it is, exactly? Or seen a similar one, elsewhere in the Philippines?

We nicknamed it the "Steinway starfish" - might be the same species in photos taken in the silty waters of Pulau Hantu, Singapore:

- though the Coron version is prettier and tipped with red-orange.

The first image is a fantasy-lit version of the dancing juvenile sweetlips, note the bluish blur. I can hear the sugarplum fairy music in this scene, and to think I have not even pulled out all my special digital imaging tricks to jazz up the image.

I will be posting a few more mystery creatures later for anyone who could help identify them. Thanks!

Cherrie
