Did you know that a world record deep diver, John Bennett, died last March?

He was the first scuba diver beyond 1000ft (308 meter). But, he was lost after 45 meter Trimix diving. http://www.divernet.com/news/stories/bennett170304.shtml

This sad news arouses me attention on this sport again… :06:

Diving safe!!!

Edit: Name spelling

John Bennett. That was quite sad, and ironic that it happened on what for him was a reltively shallow dive (eepecially compared to the monster 1,000 foot record dive.)

I corrected the name spelliing in the title for you!

Super... Thanks Kim......
But, I think we need one more "t"

John Bennett

I think he was a cover model for Apeks regulator. He used TX100 on a world record diving.

I was in Puerto Galera soon after John Bennett disappared in S. Korea—many people at Atlantis were still very much in shock. I have never met the man but it was apparent that he was a very nice guy who was loved by all.

John Bennett is picture on the Apeks page http://www.apeks.co.uk/home_frameset.htm (regulators page) wearing his trade mark Oceanic Shadow Ice mask.

Andy,

Sorry. I don’t know that.

I just find that he was missing in S. Korea after reading the recent dive news.

One of his students (two Koreans) succeeded 150 meter (500 ft) deep diving for the memory of his instructor, John Bennett, last week. It isn’t a world record, but an Asian record. They brought the picture that was taken with John Bennett to 150 meter and let it flow into the deep water. It sounds like they miss their instructor, John Bennett, a lot. I hope I can meet this kind of instructor in my life.

H2Andy:
yes, we talked about it a while back, when he went missing

http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=50282&highlight=john+bennett

it's still a crappy thing to happen

yeah, even though the news media drops a story after a little bit doesn't
mean that the impact of the death doesn't still affect those who knew him
(heck, even those who didn't)

John was just a really nice guy. had the pleasure of sharing a Booth next to his at a Scuba Show in Australia when he was setting up his Tech diving School in Queensland, he is sadly missed in the Australian Diving scene.

This is the Company he set-up it has some stories on his 308M dive

Cheers
