I have a .38, lost a .223 that was super duper. Wish I could find another.

You put a live round in it. When it impacts on target the round goes off. The expanding gasses do the damage.

Some screw on the end of a spear shaft. Some slip in & use the tip as a firing pin. Others are built into a bangstick.
 
Sounds like fun. And all along I wanted to bring my .44 for protection against the nasties in the sea.
 
You can get a PH in 44 mag. I'm buying a 30-06, though.

The largest chambering I'm aware of is in 50 BMG. I'm not sure which end of that one is the most dangerous...
 
Normal round, but it need to be sealed. Point is, the bullet choice makes little difference so there's no reason to spend money on premium bullets.
