Firediver293's Profile
Army Master Sgt. Michael T. Hiester 33, of Bluffton, Indiana.
Master Sargeant Hiester died in Kabul, Afghanistan, when a mine detonated near his military vehicle. He was assigned to the Army National Guard’s 76th Infantry Brigade (Separate), Indianapolis, Indiana. Died on March 26, 2005.

From his widow:

Thank you for your kind words. My husband loved to dive. He started the rescue dive team on our local fire department. There is a memorial fund in his name. It is:

Michael T. Hiester Memorial Fund
c/o Edward Jones Investments
1169 N. Main St.
Bluffton, IN 46714

My husbands dream for our community was to build a Safety Village for children. At present, there has not been much interest shown for that avenue. If it falls through, I will use the fund for the rescue dive team. They have been trying for years to just get a trailer to store their dive gear in. Currently, their items are stored in a leaky old garage. On a funny note, one of my husbands friends told me that while Michael was deployed, that the dive team had their first rescue. It happened to be a horse, which made him laugh. Good news, she made it through!

Again, thank you for your thoughtfulness.

Dawn Hiester

My deepest sorrows go out to someone who had to die so far from home, and to his family who has to go on without him. I wish them all well.

. . . and the bugle sounds once more.

Salute :salute:

My deepest condolences to the family of this hero.

I'm so sorry to hear.

Sobering. The lost of a hero. Puts all other matters in perspective.

To learn of this the same morning of the London bombings makes it pretty clear why these brave men's service is vital.

Couldnt have said it any better than Tobin, my thoughts go out to the family and those still in harms way.

My deepest sympathies are with you Mrs. Hiester. Your husband was a brave, and good man. I’m glad you had the time with him you had and am sorry for the loss of him.

May God bless you and your family now, and forever.
