On safari they have a Big Five, Lions, Elephants etc.

What are everyones Big Five in Scuba. We can take a poll and come up with a board list.

depends on where I am

california:
1. seals
2. otters
3. rays
4. kelp
5. crabs

hawaii:
1. sharks
2. dolphins
3. manta rays
4. turtles
5. lobsters

for me its all location, but there is 2 of my top 5 lists

I have crossed the sea-lion off of any and all positive recrational list. One became aggressive towards me on a dive and it was really creepy. ever since, I have attempted to steer clear from these mammal hellspawn

1. Whale Shark
2. Hammer Heads
3. Mantas
4. Sea Horse
5. Anything big that is not looking for diver dinner - read sharks and whales

Wish list of so far unsighted as far as I am concerned. If you want dolphins and turtles then I recommend the Red Sea - seem to see them on every trip....

Where you going for your Giant Squid then Zept?!

Jonathan

1. Indigo Hamlet
2. Yellowhead Jawfish
3. Azure Vase Sponge
4. Atlantic Pigmy Octopus
5. Fairy Basslet

Blue Ringed Octopus
Seahorses
Great white
dungeoness crabs (how DO they move???)
Marlin

1. Iguana Don
2. NetDoc
3. Warhammer (and his manuever)
4. King Neptune
5. TexasMike

Great White
Orca (while underwater, of course)
whale shark
six gill shark
giant squid

NET DOC - I went on a dungeness crab "hunt". The move VERY fast, sideways. They bury themselves in the sand until only their eyes are out. When they spot you, they burst out and take off running. I use crab pots now to catch them.

with TexasMike's list.

Lotsa other names would be on the list too. Way too many to name here.

As for marine critters; the earlier post pretty much cover them for me.
