Um, and for those of us who haven't gotten around to paying for dirquest membership, what was the outcome of the Y vs H debate?
It is not a Y vs H debate. It is why use them at all.
In the end it was agreed that the use of a proper Y will provide more options for the open water diver. It however is not to be mistaken for for what it is. A sub-optimal set up for anything else than open water non-deco diving. In other words recreational diving.
I have used and retired my H-valves because I recognised that I was fooling myself on the redunancy and reduction of risk. I dive doubles almost all the time now. I have small ones (78's) and real ones (104's).
