Why don't whales and other marine mammals that can stay submerged so long and dive so deep get the bends???

There have been reported cases of dcs in free-divers.

Not positive but I think this is what I heard on a programme about seals recently.

Whales and dolphins absord the oxygen before they go underwater and breather out the remaining part of the air.

Seals hold a lungful of air and appear to come up much more slowly very much in the same way that divers are recommended.

If someone else could comfirn i'd be very interested.

because that is the way God made them.

We were NOT made to be underwater for extended periods
of time and that's why we have to carry all sorts of gear to do
so AND why we are taking a risk in doing so.

And I believe it is in your OW book that we can get DCS because we breath compressed air.

Rich :mean:

... but I still wonder about the how's and why's of the design...

... and if we could just borrow a little of it wouldn't that be fun???

Yes Pug, it would definitely be loads of fun!
