diver gadget June 18th, 2002, 12:07 PM Anyone seen underwater walkman for sale?? I had the pleasure of trying one out once and quite enjoyed it. I also would be interested if you have specs on how to make one. tchil01 June 18th, 2002, 12:55 PM I have a link around here somewhere for an underwater walkman, but I can't seem to find it right now. However, I don't think it would be too tough to build. You would need an underwater canister like what they use for lights and a waterproof fitting for the headphone cord. I would guess that the earbud type headphones would work the best since they would go inside your hood. Here (http://insel.heim.at/malediven/350052/english.htm) is the link for a do-it-yourself site that shows how to build a number of things including canister lights. Good luck. Ty Jeblis June 18th, 2002, 01:05 PM You need waterproof headphones. The water can actually leak down the wire of non waterproof headphones and ruin the walkman and the headphones. diver gadget June 18th, 2002, 01:26 PM The head phones I belive I should be able to buy from a company that sells underwater metal detectors. Can anybody confirm that?? Jeblis June 18th, 2002, 01:33 PM Yeah I've heard of someone using the headphones from an underwater metal detector. diversdiscount.com also sells and underwater walkman....pricey though. diver gadget June 18th, 2002, 01:49 PM tchil01; I checked out the link and could not find anything on walkmans. Some stuff on lights that could be usefull. Thanks for the link! Scubaroo June 18th, 2002, 02:03 PM Unless you're doing boring stuff like cleaning the bottom of boats in a marina, why would you want to listen to music underwater? I can just picture Uncle Pug relaxing to some Enya while zipping along on the scooter...! :jester: Suppose it would be okay for anyone doing long deco stops... Ty Jeblis June 18th, 2002, 03:29 PM Look under Miscellaneous or do a search for: SEA SOUND UNDERWATER WALKMAN $499.95 diver gadget June 19th, 2002, 10:28 AM I had found the one on diver discount but that was 500 bucks US and I am from Canada. Not quite looking at spending 1000 dollars on a walkman!! Jeblis June 19th, 2002, 11:16 AM I did say it was pricey. I think I'll enjoy the sounds of the deep without a walkman.
