I have a trip to Lisbon planned for September.

Any specific info would be much appreciated on:

- Local dive sites
- Recomended dive centres

I am an inexperienced diver with an Open Water License. Any good wrecks in the area?

Any good sources of info on the matter would also be good!

Thanks

Hi Taff

I don't know where do you usually dive, but be aware that diving in Portugal means cold water (max 17 C even in September), some current, lack of visibility (around 10/15 meters if you're lucky) and poor dive centers (in most cases, don't expect a divemaster diving with you, unless you ask and pay for him).

But if you enjoy diving it might be a great experience to try the cold Atlantic waters - you might find fishes and other marine life you can't see in much places and also ... some friendly people.

Take a look at:

where you can find some helpful addresses and contacts. Sesimbra is the most covered place near Lisbon and can offer good diving (bearing in mind the above conditions).

If you need something else or further information, email me.

Cheers

Sue

I know this is a very old thread, but...

Have those water temps warmed up, now that global warming has progressed for another 9 years?

What about shore dives?

I've done shore diving in the north of Portugal. It's not that common, but you can do it.
