The impact of Hurricane Katrina has already been felt throughout the entire US and the world both from a humanitarian and economic standpoint. Like with the recent Tsunami, there are tens of thousands of people who need assistance in the form of food, potable water, shelter, medicine and other supplies. ScubaBoard urges you to make whatever contribution you can in money, time, supplies or anything else you are able to provide.

During the next few weeks we will be focusing additional efforts on this crises. The following is a list of reputable and well known charities both national, and local that need your help.

The Red Cross: https://www.redcross.org/donate/redir.asp?OID=ScubaBoard.Com&DID=09012005

Salvation Army USA: http://www.salvationarmyusa.org/USNSAHome.htm

Network For Good: http://www.networkforgood.org/topics/animal_environ/hurricanes/

Should you have any additional charities to add to this list please contact a moderator via private message.

Thank you for helping those in need. For those of you who are directly dealing with the effects of this disaster either personally or via a missing/stranded family or friend we wish you the best of luck and hope you are able to find the support you need.

To help bring assistance to critters with fur, feathers, or scales (no, that doesn't include NetDoc!), try: http://www.petsmart.com/charities/index.shtml
