Isn't nitrox and O2 the same thing.....you can use regs with O2 up to 40%. This should have been covered in your Nitrox class?

Most regulators can be used with EAN(Nitrox) mixtures of up to 40% oxygen.
Any mixture greater than 40% or for "pure(100%) oxygen" you need a regulator
that is "O2 cleaned".(cleaned for use with O2).

O2 and enriched air nitrox are not exactly the same thing
Most newer regulators are safe to use with up to 40% nitrox.
If over that amount , you need a regulator (and all associated equipment) that is safe to use with O2 and is cleaned to O2 standards

Ummm... Not quite, I think you've got it the other way around... Air contains 21% O2. Nitrox can be less than 21% O2 as well, with more or less nitrogen. So you could have a 10% O2 nitrox mix as well...
What you're referring to is Enriched Air Nitrox (EANx) that contains a higher percentage of breathing O2.

O2 is 100% Oxygen, 0% Nitrogen. Nitrox is a mixture of Oxygen and Nitrogen. Air is Nitrox with 21% Oxygen and 79% Nitrogen...
Correct , O2 is not air , it is pure oxygen , if It's not pure, you can't call it O2
