A thread for people to post where they think the future of diving technology might lie.

Here's a starter: what might happen with dive lights over the next few years. Are fuel cells for dive lights a possibility? Could we get 100W halogen lamps that burn for eight hours with a fuel cell pack smaller than today's tank lamp batteries? Or will LED's continue to improve in light output and eventually make HID lamps obsolete.

Opinions on future rebreathers, computers, navigation technology, etc. also welcome.

Augmented Reality displays that replace dive computers and gauges, as well as nav systems and just about anythign else you can think of thats electronic. They'll be able to identify marine life, as well as give you a topside map of any boat traffic in the air via sattelite.

It'll give you just about any information you'll want about the water- from your depth to temperature.

Give it 10 years. They'll shrink it so you can wear it in the size of glasses or a contact lens.
