"A revolutionary eight-part television series that reveals the dramatic rise of the animal kingdom through the breakthroughs of scientific discovery."

I'm surprised there is no mention on Scubaboard of this relatively obscure documentary that I just acquired. It's called the Shape of Life. It aired in April 2002 on PBS.
I didn't hear about it until recently. It was produced by folks affiliated with the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

How is it related to scuba???

...because the rise of the animal kingdom (and us) took place in the sea!

Worldwide in scope with amazing video footage and computer graphics...you will learn about sponges (not the kitchen kind), anenomes, flatworms, jellyfish, crabs, coral spawning, heck...click the above link then the ANIMALS tab for the complete list.

As a diver, or in fact a student of life..you WILL NOT be disappointed. This series rivals the BBC's Blue Planet. It's like the Blue Planet of the small world.

You can find the 4-DVD set on sale for <$30. Amazon (Avoid the $80 version) or Ebay.

The opening episode (eight total) uses scuba diving in Sulawesi, Indonesia to tell the story.
