I just had anotehr problem with my ears, i was just sitting here trying to work out how to equalise properly but hit a problem. I was trying it, and somethign happened to my right ear and i went real dizzy for 10 seconds and then it sorta sounded like i could hear air going through my ear? anyone know what i did?

I'm no expert, but it sounds like you might have popped your ear drum. I'd visit an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist if I were you.

I'm with Coqui Diver. You were being gentle while doing the valsalva, right?

I agree. You need to be examined by a physician, preferably an ENT, before you get back into the water. If you've perforated an eardrum, you can get a nasty middle ear infection.

Probably need to review those equalization skills with a dive instructor, also. You can cause very serious damage to the eardrum and, more significantly, to the inner ear, if you get too enthusiastic with your valsalva.

The easiest thing for me, as far as equalizing the ears goes, is to practice opening and closing my eustacian tube by swallowing and listening for that little crackle at the end of the swallowing motion. Practice that on land often, and then do if frequently as you slooooowly descend, and you'll find things much more comfortable.

Good luck,
Grier

theres no pain today

i had a problem with my ears a while ago, and i went to the doctor about it and he said the crackling should go away, it didnt and then i went back ages after that and he said someitn that i mgiht have an allergy that is keeping water in my ears and i have to take rinocort or soemtin for it. that never really did get it all away thats why i was jus practising the other night

You probalby just got some water out. But I would see a diving ENT anyway

but still the diziness... it was real real bad almost passing out dizziness. im alrite today if ne thing happens again ill probably go back to the doctor
