First Time In Maldives

Hello,
I am headed to Maldives in Jan 06 for 5 days. I am interested in diving. My wife and I are travelling with our 4 year old. I just got back from Tahiti and have gone diving in Greece, Hawaii, Jamaica, and Bahamas.

I need advice on which island, resort and dive spot to pick. I would like a place that is kid friendly and offers diving on the spot.

initial search on this forum leads me to believe that south ari toll is a nice place to stay. I want something that is not too expensive.

any suggestions?

You will be at the more expensive moment of the year, but if you can afford it... In ari, one of the better price /quality is Madoogali. nice mix of mostly everything: diving beach snorkling. little bit cheaper but still nice Mayafushi. More expensive and real nice : Rhiveli.

if you decide to go there at that moment , don't go under that quality of island; but even if it's more expensive, Rhiveli will enjoy you. Madoogali and mayafushi a little bit better for diving . If i rember well early Januauray is Manta season in Ari
