Does anyone know if a Halycon Pioneer wing can mount directly to a Hammerhead Stainless Steel backplate? (without the STA?)

The Hammerhead works with the sta integrated wings. You just use your cam bands or cinch straps to secure the wing. I personally didn't care for the plastic sta's and took them out of the wing. I like the stainless steel sta much better for two reasons:
1. Rig feels much more stable above and below the water. Real solid feel.
2. It was nice to use the sta because I took 5lbs off my belt.
Different strokes for different folks but thats my shake.

Thanks for the info.

I was just a little unsure because it seemed that the Pioneer wing Cam band spacing was 3 inches and the Hammerhead plate is 5 inches.

(Just wanted to have some options)

Hammerhead has a very liberal return policy, so if it dosen't work the only thing you would lose would be a little time. Ed is a great guy when it comes to customer service.

I went to the source and asked the makers of Hammerhead backplates. there appears to be no compatibility problem with pioneer wings. here is their reply:

"Thank you for your interest in our plate. Our wing will work with the
Pioneer. Our cam bands are spaced 3" from edge of one slot to the edge
of the other slot and 5.5" from the center of the slot to the center of
the next slot. I believe the Pioneer wing measures 5.5" from the center of
the slot to the center of the slot which is the same as our wing. The
terminology is the only difference."
