Vie November 8th, 2005, 11:59 AM What happened? I even took the trouble to make some popcorn... *Floater* November 8th, 2005, 12:05 PM When I was over there last summer, my AOW instructor at PG said the same as the title. He said they get a lot of newly certified divers from Korea that simply do not know how to scuba dive despite the certification. However, a lot of people of all nationalities get certified, then wait a year or two before diving again and as a result don't remember how to do it anymore. chip104 November 8th, 2005, 12:07 PM What happened? I even took the trouble to make some popcorn... well I'd hate to see it go to waste...Do you wanna fight? :) Vie November 8th, 2005, 12:23 PM well I'd hate to see it go to waste...Do you wanna fight? :) Nah, unless someone started a "Thais diving badly in the Philippines" thread... :D Hank49 November 8th, 2005, 12:24 PM Hopefully come next May you'll hear "Belizean diving good in Philippines". pants! I have to say, that's an awesome avatar Vie. chip104 November 8th, 2005, 01:14 PM I have to say, that's an awesome avatar Vie. you should have seen his previous pic in his profile. Had some lovely looking ladies in it. Why'd you change it?!?!?!? :D So? Did my immigrant forefathers from Germany and Scotland tell everyone in Ohio that they were Germans and Scots? Or Americans? :D In my book, Hank, you also have some pinoy flavor in you. :) HowardE November 8th, 2005, 01:28 PM I don't want to start a war here, but in Colorado, we say the same thing about Texans and skiing... But you can't just say that ALL divers from Korea are bad... Just like we can't say that ALL skiers from Texas are bad, and wear neon jumpsuits. I don't think it's right to blame the fact that there were bad divers who were Korean on the fact that they were Korean... That's really just dumb and closed minded. DearLeader November 8th, 2005, 01:45 PM But you can't just say that ALL divers from Korea are bad... Just like we can't say that ALL skiers from Texas are bad, and wear neon jumpsuits. Thank you for your wise words, my American friend. The "Koreans" (diving badly in the Philippines) mentioned in this thread must have been trained by Imperialist American puppet agencies (PADI, etc.) in so-called "South Korea." Here in the DPRK, we vigorously practice the holistic DIK (Doing It Kim Jong-il) diving method, stressing the importance of safe team diving (proper buoyancy and trim, of course) for the peaceful unification of Korea. I'm bored sitting in a blasted office - seven days til I fly to Asia to get back in the water. Bruciebabe November 8th, 2005, 02:21 PM Can you summarise or give us a taster of that original thread? I'm bored sitting in a blasted office - seven days til I fly to Asia to get back in the water. Obviously the mods deleted the thread because it criticised a whole group. However I posted it earlier on another forum in the UK who have not deleted it. So you can find it on http://www.diverforum.co.uk/talkforums/diverforum/index.shtml Hope this is sufficiently obtuse not to annoy the mods. jiveturkey November 8th, 2005, 03:46 PM Thank you for your wise words, my American friend. ROFLMAO!!! I thought it meant Doing It Kimchi. H2Andy November 8th, 2005, 05:11 PM the peaceful unification of Korea. much like the peaceful unification of sock puppets, which our TOS prohibits... so that both, known and surreptitious, may be one, in harmony with the spirit of the water and the breath of the earth lest one or both suffer the wrath of the Incarnation of All that is Holy http://www.scubaboard.com/faq.php?faq=tos_items#faq_scubaboard_tos jiveturkey November 8th, 2005, 06:43 PM much like the peaceful unification of sock puppets, which our TOS prohibits... so that both, known and surreptitious, may be one, in harmony with the spirit of the water and the breath of the earth lest one or both suffer the wrath of the Incarnation of All that is Holy http://www.scubaboard.com/faq.php?faq=tos_items#faq_scubaboard_tos C'mon...you can't censor a guy named Dearleader from Pyoungyang!!! He'll send you to the gulag. And I hear the diving there is terrible. I just checked out his profile. The only thing he forgot is Kimmy's love of Hennesy. "KJI 160 rebreather" That's gold. Spoon November 8th, 2005, 10:36 PM man that was seriously a good thread. it had some merit to it. i wonder wehy the mods decided to remove it. man i was expecing an interesting day! chip104 November 8th, 2005, 10:50 PM Actually, if I can paraphrase for Andy, I think he might have been blending into the joke in a nice way to say please do not use sock puppets (no matter how funny)... so we're not going to get anymore insight from Dearleader??? I was looking forward do finding out more on Doing In Kimmy... NetDoc November 8th, 2005, 11:19 PM Sorry for the late entry, oh impatient ones. As much as I would like to be here 24/7/365 it isn't possible. Today I pulled the thread to clean it up, and accidentally deleted it. I emailed this information to Brucie a little after 11:00 this am, but apparently the truth is boring and not worth reporting. I looked for where it may have disappeared, but it seems to be completely gone. For the most part, it is a matter of perception. I can tell you without equivocation that the worst divers in the Keys are White Floridians. I see them tearing up the reef all of the time! However, this does not give me the right to cast aspersions on the entire state of Florida or the white divers within it. It's not fair to paint a state with such a broad brush much less an entire country. It absolutely appalls me to see any race or nationality maligned; especially when there is no one speaking up for them. To assign all of these people to being "bad divers" is NOTHING short of bigotry. While Bigotry and racism as well as flaming is acceptable on other forums, we certainly don't allow that here. So please, if you have to be a bigot, go elsewhere to do it. We don't allow the bashing of any nationality, race, sex, agency or creed. I apologise for sounding harsh, but the insidiousness of this discussion is abhorrent to me. So please, decry poor diving practices all you want, but lets remove any hint of racism from the discussion. Again, I apologise for any angst my untimely deletion of the thread may have caused. However, I am not apologetic for removing such bias from our forum. For what it's worth, this thread is closed. If you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to PM or E-Mail me. CBulla November 8th, 2005, 11:35 PM I know, but I had to pull his chain on that post -- wonder if he writes like that for his surface job :) Actually... yes. :) H2Andy November 9th, 2005, 12:24 PM Wow, that was "interesting" -- posting while narc'd, or just switched to nitrous? :) when narc'd or on nitrous, i actually get tamer than in my natural state, so i just avoid them :D H2Andy November 9th, 2005, 12:25 PM Andy is a rare blend of talent and amusement. but... i hear the "but" looming... .looming i couldn't sleep last night because of the "but" looming  and yes, it was a seriously humorous reminder that the TOS prohibit sock-puppets (multiple accounts), even when used as elegantly as here NetDoc November 9th, 2005, 12:37 PM "That's the problem with the world today: big buts!" Pee Wee Herman. jagfish November 9th, 2005, 06:29 PM but... i hear the "but" looming... .looming i couldn't sleep last night because of the "but" looming  I haven't seen you with clothes off yet, so I can't make any judgment about your butt. Come to think of it, I haven't seen you with your clothes on either.
