Went Boynton last weekend to join Tigger and Kayd on their dives with Splashdown and ScubaKevDM.
I arrived for the Sat afternoon dives - Tiggrr and Kay had dived in the morning with Splashdown, but unfortunately in the afternoon the boat was full, so while Kay sloped off for a rest, Tiggrr and myself dived with Loggerhead just down the way. Loggerhead is a small op - no credit cards (cash & check only) - luckily I had some hurricane funds left to cover the cost. We did a couple of dives - one on the wreck Capt. Tony and then a drift dive on the reef. Viz was pretty bad, which was fine for the wreck but a bit disappointing on the reef (coupled with a pretty bad drop on a desolate patch of nothing) made for less than perfect 2nd dive [or maybe it was something to do with the hot dogs and relish I had for lunch]....anyhow, not to worry.
Next day we were able to dive all day with Splashdown and Kev (a larger operation with a store and they take credit cards http://splashdowndivers.com/ )
- Tigger and myself dived in the morning while Kay rested - in the morning viz was much better than the previous day - we dived on the same wreck and it was a completely different dive, then ScubaKev came in with us for the 2nd and we did a drift over Delray Ledges.
The afternoon dives were a couple of drift dives - Kay joined us, and we followed Peter (the guy who takes loads of photos for the Splashdown website) - the first dive, the viz had dropped from the morning but was still probably about 20-25ft, but for the 2nd it became pretty soupy and dropped to about 10-15ft...by that time my camera battery had died so it didn't matter so much.....anyhow all-in-all a great day of diving - sunshine, calm seas etc. - shame the viz wasn't slightly better. Splashdown is definately an operator that you should try if diving around Boynton )and get ScubaKev to take you on a tour !
Due to the viz, not many photos were that great, but i loaded a couple to the gallery:
