According to latest threads the visibility in Florida sounds surprisingly poor. Also the sea can be too rough some days. In case of poor conditions at the sea where should I head for interesting dive sites? What are the recommended sites like lakes, rivers, springs with dive operators in inland southern Florida?

I was able to find something with search but please share your experiences! :)

There really aren't any in S. FL - aside from being on land that is either closed to the public or outragously expensive, most of the lakes are very shallow gator & snake holes once you get south of I-4 :)

I have wanted to snorkel around some of the mangrove areas though, especially those near historical points of interest. :D
