I've heard rumors up here that Ginnie Springs is going to be sold and that it will no longer offer diving.
Anyone heard anything about this?? I would be a shame.
 
I think you might be hearing about Blue Grotto, not Ginnie. Blue Grotto is on the market and may be used for bottling water. In any case, Ginnie will always be open to diving, you may just need to take a boat to the spring head instead of parking next to it.
 
ANd I highly doubt Ginnie will ever be sold, although I wouldnt put it past the State to steal it. It is a serious money maker.
 
Not to mention I believe water from Ginnie Springs is already a source for bottled water... can't remember which brand at the moment.
 
Dannon bottled water comes from the Devil's system at Ginnie Springs. That's the bottling plant you see alongside the road as you drive to Ginnie from High Springs.
 
It is Blue Grotto that is up for sale. A relative sent me an article from the Tampa paper about it today.
