Ok I have chick peas (aka garbanzo beans) but what should I do with them? NO I am NOT making them into hummus :yuck: I put them in soup but that wasn't terribly creative. Later I am going to mix them with curried squash and potatoes but other than that I am fairly clueless as to what I can do with them. Suggestions?

Put them on a salad, or in chili. TVP is good in chili too if you're going the veggie route.

Falafel pita pocket with L,T and tahini sauce!!!

You could add a little curry and make something like chana masala:

(this is from vegweb.com and Parul Mehta)

Chana Masala

Ingredients (use vegan versions):
1 can garbanzo beans
1 big onion very finely chopped or processed in a food processor/grinder
1 inch piece of ginger grated
1 clove garlic
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon amchur powder (dried mango powder)
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
2 tablespoon oil
salt to taste
Directions:
Heat oil in a frying pan. Add chopped onions and fry until golden brown. Add all the spices (except mango powder), crushed garlic and grated ginger to it.

Fry for about two-three minutes. Add garbanzo beans, salt and mango powder. Add about 1/2 cup of water and cook on low heat for about 15 minutes. This will give some time for garbanzo beans to absorb all the spices.
