Hi Florida Conch Divers. I will be in Fort Lauderdale the week between Xmas and New Years and I'm looking to scuba dive Dec. 28, 29, and 30. I've been researching the dive boats and have narrowed it down to Parrot Island Scuba and Miss Conduct Dive Charters. They're both about 10 miles from my hotel, Hilton Yankee Clipper on the beach, both have been recommended by other scubaboard members and both go out early in the morning. Any comments or recommendations welcome also if anybody would like to join me they are welcome too.

Hi,

I'm not very familiar with many dive op's here in fort lauderdale as I do mostly beach diving, however I have heard that the American Dream is a very good one and is withing 5 miles of the yankee clipper. If you're willing to go out about 20 miles up to Boynton Beach, splashdown divers is a great place. I just dove with them yesterday for the first time after being recommended by many divers on this board. They are great. If you're interested there is some video and still footage of both the wreck and reef we did. http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=121078 has some links on the 3rd page of pictures as well as video I believe.

If you're up for some beach diving, there's great beach diving pretty much right off of your hotel. However, I would recommend going north about 1 or so as the reef line is pretty sweet by commercial blvd.

Later,

Bond

Keep us posted as the dates get closer. Sounds interesting.

I'm off the week after Christmas and looking to do some diving in the West Palm to Ft. Lauderdale area. PM me with details and contact info. I'd love to get together for some boat and beach diving.

I've dove with both Miss Conduct and Parrot Island and would dive with either again. Parrot Island has a bit more of a professional feel to it, but Conrad at Miss Conduct certainly has a lot more character! He also has a smaller boat, so less divers per trip.

I would recommend Parrot Island. I have dove with them countless times and never been disappooiinted. Capt. Jerry and DM Mikee are excellent. Hope you have a great time.

I would highly reccomend http://www.parrotislandscuba.com They are a great outfit and dive some fantastic area wrecks. The site has a scheledule of what they are diving on any given day and a link to the site descriptions.

Post where you are going and when, you might find several local Scubaboardians giving guided tours.

Going north - Parrot Island. Going south - American Dream. Both are easy for you to get to and both ops are good.

Well, I'm booked on the Miss Conduct with Capt. Conrad, out of Pompano Beach, Dec. 27, 28 and 29th. I will be going out on the 9:00 am trips because that'll give me time to be back in time for my daughter's soccer games on those three days. She is playing in the Orange Classic Soccer tournament that week. It'll be nice to see some Conch Divers on any of those days. If anybody is interested I'll have NYPD Scuba Team patches with me that I would trade for any Scuba related or Law Enforcement patches.
