I recieved my Fred T heavy back plate yeaterday. I ordered it sanded and ready with a removable custom cast lead weight in the channel, which works both with his two piece STA (which I also got) or the Halcyon Pioneer wing with built in stabilizing bars. The total weight is about #20, which means less weight around my waist...
The quality of his work is very high, and he places attention to details. The plate is solid like a tank, and sanded to perfect smoothness. Fred T also solves the custom requests in a very intelligent way. The casted weight is secured to the plate with two screws and two SST wingnuts casted into the weight. There are also slots in the weight for the tank bands to pass through, if that option is desired.
I can highly recommend his products to anyone.
I will dive with the back plate this coming weekend, on the Yukon in San Diego.
