I've looked and looked and I can't find what the state fish is supposed to be then...I only find that the humu has been dethroned.
Anybody know?

Well, I may only be an occassional visitor to the Hawaiian islands but in my mind the Humuhumunukunukuapuaa will ALWAYS be the symbol of Hawaiian fish - official or not... Here is the link to a story from ABC: http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=1551595

Looks like there isn't one - at least nothing official. I like the Humuhumunukunukuapuaa, myself.

It may be an unofficial state fish, but even if they appoint another fish in it's place, the public worldwide will always recognize the Humuhumu as our state fish ...it may live other places, but only here does it go by "Humuhumunukunukuapuaa" .... that alone gives it distinction.
