Never really was official, well, almost never really official.

I've always enjoyed hula dancers more

Is sorta official for a while but that ran out in 95 I think.

I've looked and looked and I can't find what the state fish is supposed to be then...I only find that the humu has been dethroned.
Anybody know?

Looks like there isn't one - at least nothing official. I like the Humuhumunukunukuapuaa, myself.

It may be an unofficial state fish, but even if they appoint another fish in it's place, the public worldwide will always recognize the Humuhumu as our state fish ...it may live other places, but only here does it go by "Humuhumunukunukuapuaa" .... that alone gives it distinction.

Aloha, Tim

P.S. If it's been awhile since you guys were over here to see this fun little fish, maybe it's time for another Hawaiian vacation :D
