I've called and asked Ikelite for the official word on a Ikelite Subtrobe 300 working with the Ikelite housing for a Nikon Coolpix 4500. They told me that the circuitry is too old in the strobe to work with the camera and sync cord. Are there any unofficial solutions to make it work? Setting aside the sync cord, is there any other way to make this strobe function with the camera/housing to take pictures? If so, how high/low would the potential be for great shots?

Thanks,

Richard

I would contact Ryan at Reef Photo. He's an expert with these things. There is an adapter made by www.mike-dive.de

You might have to change the synch cord to a Nikonos-type. But the adapter will detect the pre-flash and tell the strobe when to fire.
