Hey all!!
This is my first post and I'm loving Scubaboard so.
I live in Southern Ontario, Canada and am looking to purchase gear.
Question is do I need a cold water/sealed reg and octo for Lake Ontario?
I was also looking at the Sherwood Avid bc as well as the Tortuga. Does anyone have any opinions on either?

Since cold water diving begins aroind 42/40F you do want a cold water regulator. Water that cold can be found in northern lakes in the middle of summer, trust me. :) Sherwood Blizzards are working well for us.

As for the Avid here is why I bough mine, see link. At 79 dives ranging from trunks to drysuits with 3,5 and 7mm wetsuits in between I'm still very happy with it.

Call Brian at Dive Source in Whitby and he'll get you set up based on your needs and what kind of diving you plan to do in the future (i.e. strictly recreational single tank diving or do you want to get into doing some rec tech double tank diving etc.

Feel free to check out his website at www.divesource.com

Good luck

Hello there.

I've been diving locally out of the GTA and St. Lawrence for years and I use a Sherwood Avid BC and a Sherwood Blizzard regulator.

Great rugged gear at good prices and they perform well for the local diving we do.

Cheers.
