Just heard some rumors from local news about a series of three explosions in Dahab.

I hope that all SB members are OK- I hope that there are no casualties whatsoever.

Very sad...

John Lennon:
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Unfortunately there were casualties, at least 12 killed, 150 injured, according to latest news.

Three explosions Monday night rocked the Egyptian resort city of Dahab and there were at least 100 dead and wounded, according to the doctor who runs Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula rescue squad.

Dr. Said Essa said he was headed to the scene of the blasts, one of which hit the el-Mashrabiyah Hotel.

Acts like these against innocent people are dispicable...my heart goes out to the families of the deceased and the injured.

Now my dilema...I am supposed to leave on Saturday for Eg. to do the sights and dive. I am taking my young son with me and my wife. No I do not know what to do...and am on the fence. If anyone has any thoughts on this I sure would appreciate them.

Terrible, terrible news. Condolences to everyone involved.

I have a trip to Sharm planned for next sunday- and i can catagorically state that i STILL fully intend to go. These acts were carried out by despicable religious zeolots...and they should not be allowed to win. We need to show that we are NOT scared of them and that their tactics will NEVER force us to give up our freedoms.

Whatever we, as the diving community, can do to get things back to normal we should do without hesitation...a show of defiance and of solidarity with our fellow man will go a long way to ultimately stamping out this evil.

Also, finally, the reports are coming in that many, many divers are acting as emergency 'first-responders', using their medical skills wherever they can. I for one feel an enormous amount of pride for those out there using their skills to help.
