Try farming, plumbing or irrigation supply houses. Some auto supply places might even carry them for engine hoses etc.

For smaller bottles (like a AL40) I get them at Home Depot, I think they're about $1.50-$2.00. For the 8" diameter ones (for AL 80's) I get them at a local NAPA auto parts dealer, they run about $2.50. Same price as Reef Scuba just no shipping cost. The brand name is TRIDON and they're stainless steel. I have never had a problem with them.
