Today was lei day and I didn't see many people wearing pretty leis, but I did see a few wearing the tacky 99¢ ones though.

Roger and I had a picknic breakfast at the beach this morning and when we walked home we saw this:

we wondered what was up and tonight they said this on the news:

khon2 news:
Radisson Waikiki tries for world's longest lei record on May Day

May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii and nowhere was that more obvious than at the Radisson Waikiki.

The hotel went for the world's longest lei record on Monday.

610 lei were strung together and draped over the property.

92,720 silk plumeria and pikake blossoms were used. The lei measured more than 2,700 feet long.

Thousands of messages of aloha were entwined in the lei. Some of the messages are from children in New York, who go to school near Ground Zero.

As for the record attempt, we're still waiting to hear if the hotel made history.

tough to not get a lei on lei day here, hope it was a good one.

Thank you Dennis....you'll be gitting one of those nice leis when you arrive
