My wife and I snorkel and I scuba. I'm looking for a place where we both can see some good stuff and can sit on the beach (with sun behind us if possible) and sip a drink or two.

So far I've looked at Lauderdale by the Sea, Cozumel and now I'm looking at the Mayan Riviera and Destin area will be next.

I want my wife to see nice things in relitively calm water that has good vis.

I want to scuba dive something good, I like reefs, wrecks and oil rigs.

Thank in advance.

Mike S in San Antonio.

How about Curacao? Great diving and snorkeling form shore so no boats and on your own schedule, good food and fairly easy to get to.

Maui would be my choice. Reefs are very shallow and lots of fish and turtles. Beautiful beaches.

Now Bonaire gets my vote.. my wife's a snorkeler and I'm more of a freediver.. it worked out great for the both of us. would love to go back. I'd check into Bonaire... like thier license plates say... "diver's paradise"

Bonaire gets my vote for good snorkeling and diving! St. Croix has some really really nice snorkeling in front of the casino with lots of turtles and tons of coral.

I totally agree on Bonaire, just wish you guys would get rid of the rubber band powered planes and start flying a real plane there. :)
The only reason I suggested Curacao is there is more to do topside for a non diver.

Bonaire is number one, from a diver with a snorkeling wife.

But St Croix? I just returned from the Divi, which has the only casino on St. Croix. Great vacation, great Island, but coral and turtles at the Divi?

My wife and I just returned from snorkelling in Maui. Very nice. No boat required. Stay on the West coast.

I agree, Curacao and Bonaire are both great picks. You can also check out this great site: http://www.shorediving.com/Earth/index.htm
It has great info that lets you know how hard/easy entries are, ratings for scuba and snorkeling, pictures, lots of great info. Check out the ABC's page for Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao. Like I said, lots of great info!
Take a look at it and let me know if you need any gear advice or help. We're here to help!
