when I tried to order the Aeris Atmos 2 Wrist Computer, they said they were out but could send me, for the same price ($289) the latest version which has like an XL5 or something added to the name....

I haven't finalized the order, is the latest version of the Aeris Atmos 2 as well loved as it's ancestor?

Thanks some more
Pamela:wink:

just ordered the xr2 from scubatoys.
they gave me a great deal on it since they were all out of atmos 2's
I'll let you know how it works for me
:)
btw i was told they will get in some more atmos 2's in the next month or so.

except maybe for "larger" numbers, i can't see anything different about the
XR2 ... and i mean, the Atmos 2 was pretty easy to read to begin with...

so, basically... looks like a name change and a price hike

You are kidding... It is a good number..

No Andy, you are right. The MSRP on the new one is about $400. I am not sure if the new one is the price competitive on that price range. But, $225 is a pretty good number. I might get it from Larry after losing yours...:)

Suprised that no one that really knows answered the original question. My understanding is there is no really difference in what they do.

that was my understanding as well.
other than the new display being a bit more cluttered maybe?

The XR-2 and ATMOS 2 operate and display information virtually identically. The XR-2 display is a bit smaller, but individual segments are bolder; feedback so far is that they're both easy to read. The ATMOS 2 is larger overall, requiring a specific console. The XR-2 is the classic "hockey puck" style, which is interchangeable with many similar dive computers and depth gauges. That being said, it does have a side button which is used to program the computer on the surface and activate the backlight underwater - so it too has specific console and accessory boots with access to the button.

Hope this helps, feel free to let me know if I can answer any other questions.

Thanks everyone...

for all the information! I have a XR-2 coming in the mail soon.

And thanks, Doug, for info straight from the source!
