Need to buy a new dive com, after my mozzie died on me (4 years with less than 200 dives under its belt, my faith in mozzie and honestly suunto is shaken big time)

but just before I do my final purchase, I would like to find out if the users of the 2 dive coms above have any to share? Positive or negative comments are welcomed.

P/s: I am just a recreational diver, need a basic dive com to show me my bottom time, depth, temperature, ascent rate etc. No intention to go into tech diving.

Thanks.

Then you might want to look at the simpler Aladin One instead of the Aladin Prime. The One has the same basic case/design as the Prime but lacks buttons and some of the Primes's features.

I really like the "silent option" on the Prime though.

I don't like the Gekko because it does not have an "official" PC interface capability. The Gekko and the Aldin One do not have a "backlight" function.

Another plus for both: the Gekko and Aladin One/Prime can be used with a Deep Sea Supply elastomeric mount:

The Gekko will fit in the DSS Vyper/Vytec mount and the Aladin in the DSS UWATEC Digital Bottom Timer mount. I find the standard wrist strap and boot very bulky (especially the standard UWATEC unit that comes with the Aladin One/Prime/TEC).

Just to share some information, the Gekko do have the PC interface. One just need to have the non-suunto software and Suunto/DIY cable to facilitate the transfer of data. Refer to the following thread.

Cheers

ive had the prime for just over a year. i think ive got about 25 dives on it and have no complaints. everything works as it should and is easy to navigate and use. it gets a thumbs up from me.
