I will be in the Sarnia area this weekend at a 'family' event, and was wondering if anyone would like to dive in the area this weekend.

I hate how 'family' events interfere with my diving schedule,... so I'm going to get some dives in while keeping the family happy.

Let me know if anyone is interested and/or in the area.

I've done the St. Clair River a number of times... the Monarch, the Barge and the CSL docks.

I've got access to a boat and would be willing to go to the Wexford if someone's interested... prob Sat afternoon, or Sunday afternoon.

Geez buddy..... last night was the "what will we do this weekend" chat. So now I am going up to Parry Sound to do some family time.

(Luckly, I can take my new diving buddy with me:) )

Thanks tho - wish I could be there! Please ask again.

My buddy and I will be in Sarnia diving at the CSL docks. and then we have to stick around til night fall cuz Intstructor at our Lds is showing up with a couple of students and a few of the regulars cuz we will be doing a training drift night dive. but my buddy and I will be taking as much diving as we can during the day

My wife and I (and maybe a friend, if he can escape) will probably be in Sarnia this weekend. Look for a big blue Ford 150 with a matching big blue cap at the Monarch entry.

So I've seen the CSL docks mentioned a couple of times... where are they / how do you get there?

Also, what time were people thinking of starting?
I think it'd be about a 3hr drive to there from Kitchener (about 1 hour west of Toronto), is that right?

Also are people thinking of doing newbie-friendly dives, or more advanced stuff? 'Cause I'm still definitely in the first catagory.

Jamie

from where you are in kitchener you would have to get up on the 402 and head west until the end of the highway that is Sarnia. The highway actually ends at the customs booths, but you would have to get off just before that and head towards the casino under the bridge, there you will find a couple of chip trucks (always there) and lots of people looking out at the river. you just head to the end of the gravel parking lot right beside the casino and that is the CSL docks. We will be there all day Sat afternoon and on to night. Look for the blue and white f150 and a black blazer and come on over after all we all enter at the same spot:)

ps I think you are only about 2 hours away tops maybe less

As of Friday AM the water clarity looks pretty poor! Accuweather says it's supposed to blow again Sunday. Hopefully Sat PM will be ok...

Did any of you get dives in this weekend around the Sarnia/Port Huron area? I was up there all weekend, and the times I drove near the water, it looked pretty bad. Even the river looked turbid. If anyone is planning dives this coming weekend or any others soon to follow, let me know. It has been over 2 weeks since my last dive and I'm going through withdrawls...

I have up to 2 possible others that can join, but at least one for sure other than myself. Keep me posted.

Thanks!
Erich

You aint kidding about the vis...I have most of my diving in that river even got certified there and I have never seen vis that bad. we are usually used to any where from bad of 10-15 feet to as awesome as 70-75 (if you can see the Monarch end to end thats aboout 70 + feet). This weekend we were up for a Saturday night night dive and my buddy jumped in while we still had light and came up and said 2-4 feet. A couple of others braved going to the barge and then got out saying it turned into a survival dive ( they broke the cable on the way out)! Never the less we had to do the night dive it was wicked. I am still on vacation if you want to do any diving let me know if you are available:)

You guys are nuts. So there is no more cable going from the seawall to the Monarch? Bummer.

If the viz clears up, my dive buddy and I would like to join you either this weekend or next if you are up there. This Saturday morning would be the best, since we are going to his brothers bachelor party on Saturday night and dont think it would be healthy to dive on Sunday... unless I truly manage to keep my alchohol consumption within 'social' limits... :eek:ut:
