I'm still pretty new at diving and I'm in the process of gathering my own set of gear. I've been about the various types of computers out there and I've narrowed down my choice to a few. The main difference (other than looks) that i've seen between the computers I"m thinking about is that some of them have dive simulators, others have scrolling no stop times, and some have neither.

So, how helpful is a dive simulator on a computer for someone that's just doing recreational diving for the time being. I may eventually work towards divemaster, but that's down the road quite a bit. Is that feature more helpful for deeper dives, or diving with nitrox? Also, what is a dive simulator. The suunto vyper is the specific computer i'm looking at with a simulator.

Thanks
