Hi Divers:
I have not forgotten you! I will be with our instructor, Walter, in Bonaire this weekend. We will have time (during Surface Intervals) to talk about next year's trip.
Also, I will be going to Dema this year. I plan on talking to resorts, and dive operators there, and work out the details, of this trip, and others.
Sound good?

Bonaire next week, what a tough life! Pet a donkey for me. Are you going to take the gang to the webcam? Have a good time.

.............surface intervals? ROTFLMAO!!!!
We don't need no stinking surface intervals.
Sorry Tasha, but my surface intervals are already planned. They will be totally dedicated to snacks, cat naps and switching tanks.
While the rest of the group has a week to play, I have less than 3 full days of diving. OK, so I'll talk to you during the 24 hours before my plane is scheduled to lift off, although much of it will probably be used to catch up on sleep.
Do we have a rotation schedule yet so I'll have a dive buddy 24 hours per day?

As long as you can talk in your sleep, we'll be fine. Sounds like you're getting excited..eh?

... Always a WreckManiac.
Yes - I'm certainly still around, just swamped with work. I've also been diagnosed with a ganglion on my inner-wrist, which has begun causing trouble just in the last few months. Lots of typing and mouse work makes it more and more painful, so I'm afraid I visit the board much less often.
Have fun in Bonaire!

Hey...I've got one of those! Typing doesn't seem to bother it but lifting does. If I carry heavy gear and tanks for very long it gets worse. Sometimes it almost totally disappears other times it looks and feels like a broken bone!
Hang in there Sassy!

Thanks, Sass, and Herman.
I know we'll visit the web cam , just don't know which day. Keep a watch out.
The Itinerary for the boat dives is on my web site. It could be one of those, but it's just as easy to do it as a shore dive, so I'm not sure yet.
I know we're hoping to dive the Hilma Hooker Tuesday. I wish they had a web cam there.
Anyway, I'll tell Jake and Linda you said Hi!

I'm so jealous wished I could have tagged along. Oh well, maybe next time :)
From reviewing the posts and pictures, looks like you all had a very positive and fun experience and class.
And of course, I've heard nothing but Good Things about Walter and his instruction.
I'd be interested in the next trip for sure! and others.
Thanks for the update Natasha!

Hope you all have a great time in Bonaire! I can't help but say I am jealous as my weekend plans involve 8 hours of sitting in a boring grad school class and handing Jeff tools he needs while he is remodeling our kitchen.
We are definitely in for Wreckmania II. Since Jeff has 2 more dives to complete his certification, we will both be students. I thought the fin portion of the class was great and maybe if the pool had been larger or deeper it would have been easier?
That is the only suggestion that I could think of. A resort with a larger, deeper pool for the fin class. Oh yeah and maybe a conference room so Walter wouldn't have to teach on the gazebo but those are minor logistics kinds of things. All things considered, we could do it at the same place as this year and that would still be great.
BTW, sorry I haven't been on the board much. Getting ready for a baby can be time consuming! Everything is going great. I am in week 26 so we are almost in the home stretch.
Safe travels to all headed south and look forward to the trip report!

Hi, how can I get more information on wreckmania 2003??? I am not AOW certified yet but me and my wife will by the time the 2003 one is scheduled. I really like wrecks.... at least from the outside so I guess it will be an intersting experience. We are in Miami so I guess the logistics wont be that complicated for us.
thanks in advance

Ivan,
Do you use the American (I' vun) or Russian (E van') pronunciation?
AOW is not required for the Wreck specialty. You will need to have completed 20 dives prior to the beginning of the course.
Send Natasha a PM to get info and be placed on her mailing list.

Ivan:
Thanks for bringing up this thread. Walter and I have talked on the phone recently, and penciled in the dates we are hoping to do Wreckmania II.
I am just days away from going to DEMA, the scuba convention, in Las Vegas. When I return, after speaking again with Walter, we will announce all the plans for WMII.
We are about 12 days away from the announcements! Stay tuned.
PS. If you send me an email to Natasha708@aol.com you will be put on the prefered WMII mailing list that will go out to everyone before it is posted here.
:)
Again thanks for asking!

Walter, thanks for your reply... about the name, since I am from a spanish speaking country, the pronunciation I use is e'van (russian)although since I move to the states I get half/half in term of pronounciation, I am used to responding to both:D
hope to hear from you guys soon...

netdoc, i dont know why he pronounce it that way, maybe to make it sound sophisticated.....:D
in spanish the i sounds like the e in english. So if you read ivan in spanish, you will pronounce it e'van kind of...
regards
ivan or e'van or a'van or whichever you guys prefer;)

Natasha,
Any news yet? So friends from Pontiac, Mo invited Jeff and I to an Underwater Hockey and Spearfishing tournament in late June but I told them it all depended on the dates for Wreckmania! We are anxious to hear what you and Walter are cooking up.

Here's the scoop. I have the email ready to send out to my private dive list. They will see the details later today. ( If you are an alumni wreckmaniac you are on the list, along with a few others that emailed me directly)
The rest of the world will have to now wait until tomorrow for the details.

I figured this might happen. While Natasha was at DEMA I had to put in my vacation dates. So I put in the tentative dates that were listed on her website. I think the new dates are already spoken for.
Will we be diving the Speigel Grove, Duane, and Bibb?
I want to dive them if I get to the Keys.
I may be able to get that week off.
Pete and Mike, or anyone else for that matter, are you two doing any additional diving before or after Wreckmania? Id be interested in diving the 4th 5th and 6th also. It would be almost impossible for me to dive on the Previous Friday or Saturday.
Natasha, Is the operator a shop, or just a boat? Will we be renting equipment from Sea Dwellers or a different dive shop?
Still hope to make it folks!

I am open to any additional diving as long as it doesn't involve divorce :tease: . We can do some springs, a shore dive or two, whatever you would like!

we (pam and I) would be up to doing a lil extra diving also. We have one date conflict that I hope will clear up. The youngest informed me that she was Graduating on the 3rd or 6th. I don't see them Graduating in the mid week so hopefully it is a mixup on her part.
I begged (on my knees even though she couldn't see it) Natasha to hold 2 spots til tommorrow when I can confirm the grad time. If it is mid week we might just come down and catch the last 2 days, and dive with y'all.
Pete I haven't ever been able to dive a spring, that sounds awesome also. All these dives and time always so short. I feel like a fish that ain't allowed any swimmin.

When NetDoc says not to worry about the gator signs, or about the gator "resting" on the opposite bank.... you have to wonder about his humour.

Dave,
Great minds must think alike! Jeff and I were just discussing making a full week of the trip. Not sure if we will come early or stay late but if we can all get a good deal by organizing as a group, that would be perfect.
Looking very forward to seeing everyone again. By my calculations, because I am 8 months pregnant, on bedrest and have entirely too much time on my hands.....there are 214 days left until Wreckmania II. Let the countdown begin!!!!

Pete, If I can make this trip, Im gonna need yer help.
Either your gonna borrow from, steal from, or selfishly talk somebody out of some larger volume nitrox tanks. Either that, or Im shipping my 100's to your house, or Im buying new 100's and having them shipped to your house. I can figure out how to get them shipped home at a later date. Ive been on too many trips where Ive been promised large volume tanks could be rented only to be told that the shop is all out of them when I try to rent them.
And you MissBunny,
Your right, Great minds think alike, but we can do one better!
Great REDHEADED minds think much better than anything else.
You get to the task at hand, and bring that little person into the world!
If I can make the dates, You Jeff, and I will be certain to as you put it "Belt One Back" in the keys!
Later all!
