i got one tattoo two years ago of a shark and a dive flag on my shoulder. i now want to get a manta ray but it has been really hard finding manta ray tattoos on the net. if anyone knows of a good place to see scuba tattoos or if there is a place on this board i would appreciate it. thanks

It's funny that you bring this up. I've been thinking of posting a request on the main board to have people post their ocean/scuba tattoos. I've seen some nice ones on trips I've been on. Post it and see what you get.

Go see Shawn at Liquid Illisions and he'll research what you want and draw it. He's very talented and busy. His shop is at Dunlap on the frontage road in the same building as scuba sciences.
Heres what him and I came up with together for my tattoo.

And heres what him and my husband came up with for my husbands tattoo. My husband's is cave diving related though.

I have worked AZ Tattoo conventions and know many artists. Arizona has a reputation for having given an abundance of POOR quality tattoos.

Make appointments; don't do a walk-in with an artist you never heard of or saw the work of on actual flesh in person.

There are two AZ artists who I would recommend for wildlife, but I still suggest watching them work on someone else or seeing their actual work in person (not just a photo of a freshly done piece) before committing to having their work on you for the rest of your life. I have seen both of them work and was very impressed.

Seth: (he recently switched shops- I'll update this when I track him down.)

I think part of the reason for this is the highly transient population here. Lots of military. Some tattoo "artists" will take advantage of this. It is best to get a recommendation and see the work first.

Just came across this thread and like most of you guys have always had an interest in tattooing. As far as marine tattoos my favorite tattoo artist is Deano Cook, he is definetly doing my first tattoo. Check out his work, check out the detail, and the bio fins the underwater photographer is wearing! http://www.psychotats.com/images/cook/cook_frames.html
