I'm a Fish!
Hi, We are planning a trip to the St. Lawrence area next year. We are going to the Thousand Islands area, and also want to dive with the whales in the Gaspe. I'm having trouble coming up with some good information about the diving there, other than accomodations. If you can can point me in the direction of some good information, I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

OK, well, diving in Percé seems to be mush apreciated by all who do it!
You will have a nice guest in the form of a seal, or two, and there
is much color. If you like lobster, you should be able to pick some.

Note that water will be colder than what you are used too, but a 7MM
should be fine in the summer.
Retal will be available.

Diving: Sorry, only one in English

Hope this helps.

Bonjour!

Good idea about Rimouski but only if you're pretty much used to low viz, ripping and changing current, deep dives and cold water (36-40 F). If you are, the Empress of Ireland (coupled with a visit at the museum) will be not only a dive but an experience you will never forget (I did it a week ago). As for the Nipigon, even though it was intentionnaly sunk, the conditions are the same as for the Empress.

I think this would be one of those dives that the cold, low vis and currant would be worh it.

Thanks, Randy

as for whales, I dont know about diving "with" them but if you go at Les Escoumins on the northern side of the river, you are almost sure to see plenty close to shore and the diving there is awsome (but still very cold )

The Empress of Ireland is on my plan for 08',,,,have visited the site several years ago from the surface....I must get into better shape again before hitting that site,,,,can be very challenging to say the least. If you go in 07' let me know your finds. :)

I went diving with plongeeforillon and percenautic this summer. What you see will be comparible. I perferred the company plongeeforillon. The company is owned and run by a local. In Perce it seemed like it was a race to get to the site on the zodiac and my back suffered. This was my first time diving in non-carribean water and it was cold but what you will see are walls covered in urchins, starfish, anemones...beautiful. If you are lucky like we were you may also get to dive with some seals.
