A friends in town, and she just got certified, and we're looking for places to go. Unfortunately, our schedules are pretty full, and the only free time is this Sunday... Which puts Tobermory a bit far (3+ hours each way) for just a day-trip.

So, does anybody have any suggestions for places to dive that are down in the Kitchener area? (An hour's drive West of Toronto, between TO and London)?

We'ed love to try drift-diving, so if any of the Niagara/Sarnia/Windsor people are looking for an excuse to get wet this weekend we'ed be happy to provide one :)

The big caveat is that we're all (me, my friend, and possibly the other buddy-pair I can talk into coming with us) beginners, so it has to be fairly shallow ( under 60') and no strong currents.

Hoping to hear from someone....

If you can get there before the student influx (or luck out and get a day with no OW students at all) the JC Morrison in Barrie is a good day trip. If you take the 401/407/400, it's less than 90 minutes.
The wreck is about 250 feet off the beach, max 30 feet. Vis is variable. Water temps usually warmer than Georgian Bay, although they may be cooling off now. If you pull into the first parking lot (farthest South) and park near the south end, there is a rope tied to a stump that leads to the wreck. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR DIVE FLAG, a lot of boat traffic and fishing in the area. Although the PWC drivers don't seem to know what it means anyway.
