I'm a Fish!
All this hurricane talk has made some of my entourage nervous...will they be able to use their cell phones to stay in touch with home...or is it cost prohibitive?

I have found the "phone/fax" booths reliable and a lot less expensive than the pay phones (though not "cheap") in Mexico. I usually have found Internet cafes to available, though finding one that will let you hook up your own laptop is tougher.

If the question is reliability in adverse conditions, I would not expect the wireless network to be any more robust than the wired phone network.

Phones worked fabulously...better than at home according to some. Carrier is Cingular, at home. We'll just have to wait until the end of the month to see how expensive it was....had to be cheaper than the AT&T calling card.
