I’m usually a “warm water, pretty fish” kind of guy, but I took some students for open water checkout dives at Weeki Wachee this weekend. For those of you who don’t know, Weeki Wachee is a part of “Americana” – it is a Florida theme park from the 1950s that still puts on daily mermaid shows in their underwater theater. It’s hard to compete with Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios, and Busch Gardens, but they are still alive and kicking. Go to www.weekiwachee.com for details.

Anyway, after finishing the student’s checkouts, I thought I’d snap a few photos. Granted, it’s not Indonesia but at least I got wet and got to play with my camera!

NO MERMAIDS???!! :(

I need to get down there one day for a dive. While it's still in operation.

Great pics. It's a really fun dive to do except for the sliding board into the water.
