We met at Fisk Mill for our October dive as scheduled. It was Ericson, Peter and me diving. Brian showed up with Lisa, but neither of them could dive. Peter brought a friend and his dog to watch our stuff, which was quite kind of them. After looking at the hike down to Fisk Mill, the decision was made to go to Stillwater instead. Unfortunately, many people were scared off by the prospect of a hike to the dive site. So we probably should stick to easy entry sites for official dives.

The dive was pretty good with visibility in the 6’ range. Stillwater is a nice site with an easy beach entry, on site bathrooms and picnic benches. Ericson, Peter and I dove as a threesome and did a pretty good job of staying together despite the visibility. Ericson and Peter both had cameras, so all you had to do was look for the flash to see where they were. The dive was pretty uneventful, except for the vicious abalone that tried to attack us. Ericson did manage to snap off a picture of the nasty beast before we made our getaway.

We ended up only doing one dive on account of Peter had to get home and Ericson’s drysuit leaked. Thankfully, Brian brought some really cool munchies including smoked cabazon for us to munch on along with a few beers to wash it down provided by Peter.

Hope to see you all on the next one!
